As it is mentionned on the bonus track DVD, it's a fake US tank made on a truck base (we can spot wheels on the 1sr thumbnail)... the productors and cineast asked to american postWWII occupation forces to provide real tanks for the scenes, but the american commandment didn' accept judging the film project not in the "good line" and the cineast profile not convenient (B.Wicki has been german communist before WWII)

It was a T-34 tank made to look like a M4 Sherman... the filmmakers did a smart move to cover some of the wheels so they look like real Shermans. But still the big wheels are obvious.

Made for Movie M4A1 Sherman (M4A1 has a cast hull; the front corners curve inward smoothly). There are two of them here, one is based on a modified T-34, the other, in the fourth picture of the first comment, has an inside roadwheel from an Sd.Kfz.8 German half-track in place of the "Sherman's" drive sprocket, so it was probably assembled from parts.
