Made for USA due to federally mandate side marker.

Or Made for Canada, as the movie was shot there ;)
By the way, did these side markers become also mandatory in Canada in 1968, or did Canadian people just have no choice as most of all the vehicle production was made for their southern neighbors?
_____

Identified as a 1973 model for now, but it has the blinker location, the front door footboard and the fuel filler flap of a 1968-72 T2a model:

With the rear face usually said to be 1973+...

... we can in fact precisely identify this van as a 1972 only model.

That was my 7.5-year old comment here, eLMeR :p

According to IMDb, it did listed at Canada. So be it :)

@ rjluna2: unlike in this comment, it was just an (amused) quote, not a @ to take personally ;)

There is only one Standard Station Bus for now in the IMCDb, also made for Canada. But nothing else.
• Why Standard?
• What name was given to the other Canadian models?

For T1, the Standard Station Bus was from the outside like a Window Van body, but with two-tone paint. The Deluxe Station bus was more or less the 'Samba'. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/lit/63canadafullline/page19_20.jpg

Then there were Delivery Van, Pick-up, Six-passenger Pick-up,....

To make it even more interesting, names seem to have changed during the T1 era. A later model of your link would be called a Family Bus.

Then shouldn't Standard be set as a complement rather than as part of the name, as it seems to just be a trim level?

Personally, I don't think the 'Standard' name should be listed at all, as it was just used to distinguish it from the DeLuxe version http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/lit/64pricelist_canadian/inside2.jpg

The same goes for the other Typ 2s, like the one in your link, or the T2 actually listed on this page - already without 'Standard'. Or, for that matter, the 'Standard Limousine's on these pages - but it was used in price lists and brochures.

Yes, it was derived from Station Wagon, as was the Vanagon, with the same purpose as the English 'Estate', I guess - picking up people and luggage from the station and bringing them back home to the estate.
