Agreed after further digging. Seems there were only 267 (or maybe 270) Majestics of all types; Glass's lists availability Oct 93 to Sept 94 (as above) on Jag Sovereign 4.0 [XJ40] and XJ12 [XJ81], plus Daimler 4.0 [XJ40] and Double Six [XJ81]. I get the impression that nearly all were V12s and most of these were Daimler D6, but have not got figures. This one is Daimler.

Why? Would buyers have all wanted the big 6.0 V12 (thirstier, more expensive, more complex) when this is more of a limo than a fast driver's car?

Actually I'm starting to think that's a coachline rather than a chrome side-strip. And I don't think those alloys are Daimler ones.

My impression was from reading the various references found ..... but it now seems I've caught a Jag instead - see the motif in wheel centres
[Image: 40-03jaglwbe.jpg]
... which looks more like a Jag head than a flowing D.

Yes, that's a Jag's head. Jaguar Sovereign Majestic.
