It's an X300 (pre-1998) due to the front spoiler and rear bumper. -- Last edit: 2016-01-06 20:12:19 |

Borrowed plates? |

And what about type: 'Daimler V8' or 'Daimler Eight'? |

Daimler Six. If it was an X308 it would be Daimler V8 or Super V8 (if it's the supercharged version) But all the other Daimler X300 funeral cars are called X3000's. -- Last edit: 2016-01-06 20:25:57 |

Probably not - conversions are usually fairly slow processes. And funeral firms are probably not too bothered whether they get the latest chassis/engine/series to work from - these things don't get driven fast. |

As far as I'm aware, these were named 'Daimler X3000' by the coachbuilders but were actually based on low spec Jaguars (and had a few Daimler features like the grille and number plate plinth added, maybe the base cars were specifically made that way at the Jaguar factory). Hence it's not really useful to link it with a specific Daimler model, no one was going to butcher one of those top of the range cars to build a hearse. |

That makes sense. I think those wheels are the most basic X300 ones too. |

It depends on the availability. As our -unfortunately not active here any more- member Animatronixx told me, it's quite usual, that hearse-builders take used cars as a base for their conversions, often accident cars with a crashed back. |
