This is not a 1951 Mercury. I was going to say it's a 49 or 50 but when I looked at the enlarged picture, the front license plate says "AWSOM50" so I'd say it's a 50 Mercury. |

le tournage du film a necessité quatre mercury toutes preparées par eddie paul a los angeles , traitées custom , avec top shop de 5 cm dechromage , moon discs et feux arrieres tunellés, l'une mieux finie que les autres a servi pour les plans rapprochés .toutes les quatre mues par des v8 chevrolet small block en remplacement du v8 flathead . l'une d'elle possedait un compresseur et un kit nitrous oxyde pour une vitesse de maxi de 220 km/h et des accelerations de de 0 a 100 en 4 secondes .une a ete detruite pour le besoin du film , on ignore ce que sont devenue les autres " nitro n°175 -- Last edit: 2007-02-07 00:12:35 |

There were actually 4 '50 Mercs in various stages of damage that were used in the movie. |

1949 Mercury coupe with a roof chop and various other body mods. They used 4 during filming, 2 '49s and 2 1950s. All had big block engines. This is a fairly dull film after the chase finishes. Shame they wrecked the Merc so early in the film, a stupid end to a cool car. |

I remember seeing a short special on Cinemax in the late '90s that showed various cars stored on a Hollywood lot, and one of them was the battered shell to one of the Mercuries used in this film, just sitting more than a decade later. It's certainly possible, if it was still around then, to be fixed up and reused in a movie just a few years later, but I too would like to see proof of that. -- Last edit: 2011-07-01 03:47:03 |
