I believe this is a truck designed by Bertone and introduced in 1964. Apparently it's generically called Belphégor http://www.citroenet.org.uk/utilities/belphegor/belphegor-01.html .

Otherwise it was named 350 (3.5 ton load capacity) until 850 (8 ton load capacity) plus an additional N or P.

Designed by Flaminio Bertoni, not by Bertone :)
He was the "father" of all the Citroëns made from 1934 to 1964, from the Traction to the Ami 6, including the 2 CV and the first DS.

The Belphégor name is used in the IMCDb, but apparently only as complement.
The truck was launched in October 1965, i.e. for the 1966 model year. As XXX KV 25 is a 1966 plate, this truck is therefore a 1966-67 model (1967 if this plate number was given in the second half of the year).

As the accurate model name is most probably impossible to identify, should we keep the unknown in the name, or could we just have it as Citroën 'Belphégor'?

I'm sorry for misreading Bertoni for Bertone. Perhaps they are related as I've understood that the "i" in the end of words in latin usually means "several" (like "solo" means one is playing an instrument and "soli" means that more than one are playing). That is Several Bertones.

When investigating I read 1964 on the wikipedia site and 1965 on other pages, and shouldn't have jumped to the conclusion that both were right. I shall not believe wikipedia in the future, not at all.

I'm positive to name these trucks "Belfégor" as otherwise it's going to be a guess what specific model it is in each case. That is not only a concern for this model. I don't like the word "unknown" if the vehicle is partly known.

en.wikipedia's page of about Flaminio Bertoni says:
Quote Not to be confused with Bertone

You're certainly not the only one to confuse the 2 of them. But I like the explanation of your mistake with the "Several Bertones" :)

About the 1965 unveiling of the truck, it's just an example of why I often say about WP: good for the main lines, but further checks are often needed. All the more when no or just a very few sources are given.
This doesn't prevent that free encyclopedia to be a good first step to seek further information... as long as you keep in mind that is is written by people like us (and some of us, sometimes ;) ), and we all know that errare humanum est...

Work in (long) progress among admins. Maybe we'll manage to reach a consensus about this :)
