"Forty years of fruitful collaboration between Alfa Romeo and Touring came suddenly to an end for the unintelligible decisions of the car maker’s Technical Department. Touring’s task was literally to cut the finished bodies, strengthen them where necessary and complete the assembly. The initial contract commissioned the conversion of 1000 GTs in GTCs but, due to irreconcilable disagreements between the parties, the collaboration was cut short after just 610 cars. Considering that a total of 98,000 GTs (1600, 1300 and 1750) and 19,000 Spiders Pininfarina (1600, 1300 and 1750) were built, it’s clear that only the crumbs were left to Touring!"
