Ford GPW. Nice clear definitive shot of the inverted "C" crossmember. |

Hello, 4x4peru. Now, take this pic, … and indicate (with anything, er… a red contour, for instance) where and what we have to look to know this a GPW instead a MB. I would love to have it done under my eyes (I'm too old now to learn theoritically). (And if you have a MB pic of the same sort and angle close to you, would you please do the same?) |

@DidierF I am unable to edit the pics. In the photo above the front crossmember between left and right side frame rails (not the bumper but 10-12 inches behind the bumper)and just below the lower edge of the grille and parallel to the bumper and lower edge of grill, is visible. This straight horizontally parallel portion of the frame is an inverted "C" channel with the grille mounted above it. The forward straight edge is clearly visible. This "C" channel crossmember is the easiest way to distinguish a FORD GPW from the Willys MB. The Willys MB crossmember is a round tube slightly bent higher in the middle. When the light is good the straight, sharp edge of the Ford is easy to see. Frequently the light is not so good and angles poor so as to not be seen. When present it is a great clue. When in doubt the site refers to it as a Willys. Hope this helps. |

Would it mean that I'm not the clumsiest computer user around? It's… it's Christmas for me! It surely does. Thanks, 4x4peru. |

@DidierF Would it mean that I'm not the clumsiest computer user around? It's… it's Christmas for me! Merry Christmas. I am much more comfortable racing down the Mulsanne Straight of LeMans 24...at night...in the rain...than editing pictures. Best regards! |

I had to look for "Mulsanne Straight", 4x4peru. For to me (I'm French, remember), "Mulsanne" is a village and a curve (a hairpin), the straight is la ligne droite des Hunaudières, or les Hunaudières in short. Through which device are you running (and, hopefully, winning) les 24 heures du Mans? |
