That badge on the driver side of the grille makes it a 61'. That bold script on the front fender makes it either a Custom or Crown (Lebaron model designation was at the base of the C-pillar).I believe that passenger side rear view mirrors were standard on Crown and up so I think this is a 61' Custom.

Black convertible behind it is a 1962 Mercury Monterey Custom.

IMCDb indicates filming in San Diego, California. 699 West Broadway in San Diego looks nothing like this; there's a skyscraper on the block now. It may be 699 West Broadway in nearby Chula Vista, which is an empty lot on Google Streetview.

EDIT: Nope, Emery L. Scholder's lot was right in downtown San Diego, where the skyscraper is now (intersection of Broadway and Kettner). According to a 1986 article in the Los Angeles Times, he was forced by the city to sell the lot in 1981. Scholder was 70 years old in 1986 and father of 12(!) children, and was described as "a fixture in the used car business in San Diego." He sounds like quite a character, frankly.
