Mesh grille and tall bonnet vent = S1 to S3. Not S3 as has cathedral rear lights (ex-older Humber Hawk), not the treble bullets (from Singer Gazelle S3a???) - see http://pics.imcdb.org/10795/4607b.jpg . Has spiders-eye headlights which suggests earlier (from comparisons with RR Silver Cloud where SC1 has them but 59+ SC2 did not). Comparing photos of DB4s, it looks as if rear-hinged bonnet of S1 may have had softer front corners than front-hinged S2, which might mean this is S2; however looks like bonnet pins, so may be modified. "Maybe the only easy way to separate an S1 from an S2 is the adoption for S2 of opening rear quarter lights made with flat glass rather than curved." - http://astonmartins.com/car/db4-series-2/ . Is the originally posted blurry side view still available, and did it show the rear side windows?? Have found the car "Going to the Movies - We're looking forward to seeing The Man from U.N.C.L.E. movie remake, directed by Guy Ritchie and currently scheduled for release in June 2015. Watch out for our Aston Martin DB4 in its action car race sequence, racing against the Napoleon Solo character." and picture - http://www.belvederecars.co.uk/images/page-3_img-25-b.jpg - but not much help. Otherwise default to 1958 S1 |
