To be more specific, a custom 1988 International S-1700/Ward Volunteer. The reverse lights next to the turn/stop lights are what narrows this to 1988. The S-series chassis was replaced for 1989.

Has the bus been shortened for the film?

Probably not, cf /vehicle_66355-International-Harvester-S-1900.html
Edit: actually, why not, as that other movie is more recent

Yes, that has to be the same bus. A special feature on the DVD shows them piecing together the back and front end of a regular sized bus. I don't see the point in a bus this small, since you could just transport the same number of people in a van.

Is this schoolbus for very tiny, remote villages where there's only a few kids in the local school?

So funny to see this when some American schoolbuses are about 60 feet long!

Buses of that size are usually shorter in height and are Ford or GM.

The one in You, Me and Dupree has a year 1978 and this one has 1988 so could these be the same bus and other one having a wrong year?

Other one was "1978-1988", this one could be identified more precisely. I modified the other one to 1988 as it is probably the same one.
