No later than 1980 as no side indicator. |

I'd say 1976-1977 because 1978+ cars hasn't those long nozzles for washing headlights. |

To answer an old question...I don't believe U.S. Cars had side indicators. Because of U.S. environmental regulations, the 930 did not go on sale until 1976 and left the market (and Japan) by 1980. So 76-79. The film features a nice interior view showing driver's door panel in tan. See photo above. This example also sports a then popular wool seat cover. I wonder what became of this example? -- Last edit: 2022-11-03 05:10:56 |

10 years after my first comment, I agree. Non-US Porsches (all types, not just 911) got side indicators for 81+, but US ones did not, despite comments in various Porsche bibles suggesting that everything for everywhere got them. But US cars did get them later in 1980s - I think about 1986 from photo'd examples. Other comments have probably got this dating correct, particularly for the periscope headlight squirters which were 76-80. But again 2 confusing comments in books - whether the Turbo got the black additions to the rear arches in 76 or 77, and the headlight surrounds - books say these were chrome until body colour from 1979 (along with for US different headlights with thicker surrounds which make it look startled), but seems not quite true as Turbo were always body coloured - only the non-Turbos were chromed. Conclusion - there are some very good 911 bibles out there, with a lot of very good detail. But I haven't found one which is totally perfect and 100% reliable. |
