marklandynut ◊ 2010-05-24 02:19	Thwe difference between the 86"and 88" (and also the 107" and 109") is the position of the front axle. The axle was moved forwards 2" in 1956 ready to accomodate the new 2 litre diesel engine when it arrived in 1957. They look extremely similar and it can be hard to tell them apart. However, there is one way to tell if you get a side shot. On the 86" (and 107") the front end of the front springs sit behind the bumber and the wheel is roughly central in the arch. On the 88" (and 109") the front end of the spring is under the back edge of the bumper and the wheel sits forward in the arch. From that I would say this is actually an 88" Series 1.
