Picture of the rear shows the aftermarket rear fog lamp, and it also has a European-Style trailer hitch. Front picture shows he has the (European Spec-they were illegal in much of the US then??) Halogen low beam headlights, but looks as if it still has the (US Spec- which were illegal in much of Europe at the time?) sealed beam high beams? (Which wasn't really 'that' uncommon....some of those inspectors really only seemed to care about the low beams on 'these' cars? Especially near a Base/Post. But then,we used to joke about why they even cared if the horn worked....or why a car even had one.... because it was illegal (Yes,you'd get a ticket just like for speeding or running a light!) to actually blow the horn in much of Germany!!) |

@Buc84: what do you mean with an illegal horn? A horn was illegal back then in Italy, but not in other European countries. In January my K 70 passed the TÜV-inspection, although the horn was defect Sealed beam headlights may pass the TÜV unnoticed, but no chance with a trailer hitch. About that they are very picky. |

I recall it was a ticket/fine offense to blow the horn on a car in most cities and towns. Used to be the joke that if you can't even blow the horn, why did they care that it would work?? (And the trailer hitch in the picture looks as if it can be removed, but it looks as if it is bolted to the frame. Guessing for maybe towing a small camper or boat trailer?? And probably custom-made,too?) -- Last edit: 2018-04-08 22:30:29 |

O.k.,using the horn without reason is still an offence, at least in Germany. Same for the headlight flashers - usually that's done to warn the oncoming traffic for speed traps. no kidding, sometime the cops ambush you for that. |

Often used for saying ‘Hello‘ but you always risk getting fined, in Norway it should only be used for alerting others of a dangerous situation |
