Electra Estate Wagon or just Estate Wagon? (as both seem to exist...) |

this is an Electra Estate. there is also a LeSabre Estate, I dont remember any Estate wagons that werent Electra's or LeSabres. The Electra has wood grain trim , the LeSabre does not -- Last edit: 2007-01-18 23:48:09 |

Electra Estate Wagon is a model of the 80s actually. If this one is from the 70s, it is just Estate Wagon: /vehicle_17436-Buick-Estate-Wagon-1974.html |

This car is a 1974-76. Back in 1974, the Estate Wagon had Electra 225 exterior trim and LeSabre interior trim while in 1975-76, it had LeSabre interior and exterior trim. Back in those years, it was just known as Estate Wagon. |

I'll try to clarify things about the Buick Estate Wagon! Before 1965, the Buick Estate Wagons were either named Super Estate Wagon, Roadmaster Estate Wagon, Special Estate Wagon, Century Estate Wagon, LeSabre Estate Wagon or Invicta Estate Wagon. After a 5 year absence from the Buick lineup, the full size Estate Wagon was reintroduced in 1970. It had a mix of LeSabre and Electra 225 trim and it was just called "Estate Wagon". The interior trim was the same as the trim used in the LeSabre models while most of the exterior trim (save for hubcaps, lack of fender skirts and wagon specific trim) was shared with the Electra (grille, 4 portholes, emblems...). In 1975-76, the exterior trim was the same as the LeSabre (grille, emblems, 3 portholes). In 1977-79, it was still named "Estate Wagon" but there was also an "Estate Wagon Limited" that got more luxurious interior trim and Electra exterior trim (again the grille, 4 portholes and emblems). Neither had the LeSabre or Electra name before 1980. 1977 Estate Wagon Limited http://www.auto-zimmerli.ch/_04auto/000000a3.htm 1977 base model Estate Wagon (with LeSabre trim) I listed it as a LeSabre because of the LeSabre trim but the model name is just "Estate Wagon" /vehicle_43488-Buick-LeSabre-Estate-Wagon-1977.html 1978 Estate Wagon Limited (listed on CarDomain as an Electra) http://www.cardomain.com/ride/367528 In 1980, the model with Electra trim previously named "Estate Wagon Limited" became the "Electra Estate Wagon" (first time the name "Electra" was used on an Estate Wagon) and the base model Estate Wagon was now a LeSabre Estate Wagon. Both models continued until 1990 when the LeSabre model was dropped and the Electra Estate Wagon was renamed just "Estate Wagon" (are you getting confused!) In 1991, the new more rounded model that replaced the 1990 Estate Wagon was named Roadmaster Estate wagon. |
