This was rated at 18 RAC hp and was a development of the 1991cc six which was used in the earlier Lancaster/Hurricane/Typhoon models. The only post WWII four cylinder AS was the Sapphire 234 which was introduced in 1956 and used a 4 cylinder version of the 3.4 litre six from the Sapphire 346.
