Are you sure about 1971 for the main vehicle? Looking at the interior view, I would have said an earlier Series II or IIa, more probably a Series II (1958-1961) on account of the dashboard not being body coloured. |

I'm open to ideas. If they are 2 very different Landies, their roles mean they deserve separate pages. I'd raise an eyebrow if Liverpool Police were using 15 year old Landies on frontline duty, but will follow where the IDs go. |

The body coloured dashboard being introduced with the Series IIa may not be a definitive rule, and there may be variations for police models. Taking your point about a Series II on frontline police duty being unlikely by 1973, I would suggest listing it a Series IIa until someone (marklandynut?) can provide a more accurate identification. -- Last edit: 2015-12-20 14:21:44 |

Have watched the film again, and it's possible all shots are the same swb Landie - it looks like the same policemen throughout Landie appearances. Film does not give any oblique rear view which might show pale rear with dark blue body sides, so it's still unproven, but if it started as white-on-pale blue, then dashboard is ex-factory body colour. So I'm now against splitting them off, and tempted to regard everything as 1971 88". So Series III?? |

Looking at the interior view again, the main vehicle is almost certainly a Series IIa. Compare - Series IIa, Series III. -- Last edit: 2015-12-29 02:11:37 |
