For an economy shopping trolley, the Matiz was an excellent design, much better and more likeable than its reputation, and surprisingly good to drive within its inevitable limitations. If you assess a car based on fitness-for-purpose, it was probably up there with Fiat 500, Panda, 2CV or original Mini.
