I think it's Jacques Cornet's 1953 epic trip - "Jacques Cornet and Henri Luchon start in 1953 a trip from Canada to the south point of South America and back home through Africa. "On Tierra del Fuego, a land very sparsely populated, they reached over 800 miles further south than any other vehicle ever before.
