Looks it was only for 2001
"Also in 1997, the 1998 model year Luminas received second generation airbags. The front-wheel drive Chevrolet Impala was introduced as a replacement for the Lumina in 1999, although GM produced 2001 model year Luminas to be exclusively sold for rental fleets. Retail sales of the Lumina ended in Canada in 1999 with the new imported models and the redesign of the Caprice, with the United States following a year later. Fleet production ended on April 26, 2001. In some Asian countries, the Lumina continued as a rebadged Buick Century/Regal." from Wikipedia

Ouch. I guess they are referring to the 1993-94 refresh of the Caprice? Then again probably not. Of course, this wasn't a cited source :/

anyway Caprice & Lumina weren't in the same category...
and Caprice took a hike long time before the Lumina did

Good point. Caprice ended in 1996 until it got brought back again.

Oooh, the Finnish Wiki has an extra section about the Lumina there:

Quote
In 1995, Chevrolet Lumina LS cost FIM 229,800 in Finland, or EUR 53,199 (in 2016, a factor of 0.2315). Lumina's base model cost FIM 209,900, but there was clearly more equipment in the LS model.

Metro-Auto officially brought Lumina to Finland in 1995-1996. Some cars have been registered in 1997 but these are all leftover 1996 models. The model is a familiar sight for capital city guests also from a taxi stand a few years ago.

155 imported in '95, 169 in '96, 194 in '97.

If that's true, this would be a 1996 model than.

French version of wiki is a funny one.. almost empty and they mix up the 1st and 2nd gen trim level ( still waiting to see a 1995-1999 Lumina Z34... ) [:sarcastic]

What a read. Too many "could be" and "maybe". The page needs to be fixed.

Baube QC

Terra, you speak french ?
