If this was a UK Vitesse, I'd date as about 66-67 Mk1 if colour is that very pale green, or if white probably 65-67 single colour. But grille is different and has Standard bonnet badge so I think it's a Standard Herald. Mk2 S-H used Vitesse bonnet but with bodged single light arrangement and was 2 door only; Mk3 was 4 door only and used same single light Vitesse bonnet. Late Mk2 overlapped with Mk3 production so both 2 and 4 door were available together for a period. Now I'm guessing from here. Very late Mk3 brought a short-lived 1970-only 4 door estate ("Companion") with at least one example with 4 light Vitesse front - http://www.aronline.co.uk/images/standard_herald_02.jpg - with that photo described as 1969 prototype. Not sure if normal Mk3 saloon got this front at the same time (1969-70?) and maybe very last Mk2 2 door as well if still available by then??? So I don't think UK Vitesse (and I don't remember seeing any indication it was sold in India??), and I go for very late Standard Herald Mk2, about 69-70 as best estimate. But no knowledge when Mk2 stopped or how much the 4 light front was used in production. |
