Add T at ZX name(ZXT 'cause had T-bar roof--T=Targa body) |

was that in the US? I've never heard of a 280ZXT |

Actually DatsunZ, the T in the ZXT badging indicates that the car is the turbo model. The targa top or "T top" version was standard from 1981 on and was refered to as the GL trim level. |

Datsun 280ZX. No "T". 280ZXT is used in some circles to designate it as a turbo model, but the official name is just 280ZX. 1982 or 1983 model year because of the duct on the hood. |

I have also seen that duct on the 80 model as well. |

not an original one. first on the turbo cars in 1981, and on all for 1982-83. |

This was actually a 1983 Datsun/Nissan 280ZX, not a 1982. I have confirmation from the California BAR's smog history website. If you look closely at the music video, you'll be able to read its license plate as "2AJU396". The car was last smogged in 2000. I wonder if it's still in existence. How did you even see the plate. I just watched the video 2x and the plate is not shown clearly anywhere. I'm skeptical how you were able to get the plate from the video unless you used a different source. |

It's admittedly hard to read, but being a California license plate historian/expert/nerd, I knew what to look for. The last four digits ("U396") were already crystal clear, seen at 0:39. Then I tried to decipher the shapes of the rear plate at around 0:45, and I was able to make out "2A"... which chronologically lines up since the "Golden State" plates were introduced in December 1982 as a $10 optional base by the California DMV (with "2AAA000" being the first one), and this music video was filmed in early 1984. Now all I was missing was the middle letter. It looked like its proximity was closer to the "U" than the "A" before it, so I knew the letter had to be something that didn't look symmetrical. I then simply went through the California smog records and searched for "2AAU396", then "2ABU396", then "2ACU396", etc. until I found a perfect match. Comparing the "2AJU396" sequence with what's in the frame as well as having the provenance in the records pretty much cements this as the actual car used in the music video.
