O.k., a bit more serious posting about the orgin-countries: in fact the Mercedes G is a nearly complete Austrian car. Planned, constructed and still produced (together with the Lada Niva jeep actually the model, which is for the longest time in production, since 1979) ath e Stey-Puch-factory. In several countries, except Austra the Balkan-contries and Near East also sold as Puch G. Only the badge is different between Puch G and Mercedes G. Mecedes took over the complete developed car and then they built and sold it under their name. O.k., they have Mercedes-engines, but this is nothing special - the the old 6-cyl-Volvo-Diesel-engines were made by VW (for the LT), they even have the VW-logo on the block. |
