Yes, poor painting quality in the late 1980s that was made by General Motors vehicles.

I bet the paint is just the tip of the iceberg.

Looks more weathered for the movie than natural to me. 1. Late 1980's GM paints usually just wore out and looked grotty. 2. That rust isn't natural because its everywhere. EVEN ON THE PLASTICS. 3. The grille (which is plastic btw) is resprayed blue, which means that the car isn't it's natural color. 4. The wheels were, if I remember correctly, hard plastics. So there is no way that the wheels would oxidize.

At least the Bonneville got unique sheetmetal. Buick and Olds had to share the same design. Wonder why Pontiac scored unique sheetmetal.

I think Oldsmobile was having its "last Hurrah" moments at that time, as its closure was only ten years away or so.
Pontiac managed to hold out until 2006.

Virginia plate JNW-1717 would have been issued probably in 2004.

Bad design. Prefer the 1982-1986 Pontiac Bonneville better.

I love these models, my neighbor had a navy blue model, an SSE with the 3800. Very stout vehicle with a great drivetrain. They don't make engines like that anymore.

Oldsmobile's last year was 2004 with the Alero, Bravada, and Silhouette.

Pontiac lasted until 2010 with the G6 and Vibe. Saturn also died in 2010 with the Vue and Outlook. Hummer too with the H3. Saab made it to 2011.
