it's a Hyundai Sonata around 1993. (2nd generation that was between 93 and 98) i google searched 1994 Hyundai Sonata and it matches up but there's none of the big images of the back to copy over and imageshack. -- Last edit: 2006-12-12 17:06:16 |

These 4.3 large pics with grain are quite large in JPEG, reducing them to 640x480 is maybe a better solution, no? (what I do with 4:3 DVDs actually...) Same for VHS pics, as they are not very sharp downscaling them a little may make them look less blurry, and make files much smaller. -- Last edit: 2006-12-12 17:50:20 |

I've Never done any of this scaling/size business.? (as long as it fits within the 720 and was less than 80k, I don't mess with the pics ..too time consuming ,already cutting, trimming away black borders and sharpening.!) and I've still never tried any of that ratio stuff (alexander explained it before, but i've never felt the need to do any) I know you have asked about ratio's before.! (oval tyres.!) ..affraid I'm not clued up enough for this type of thing.! -- Last edit: 2006-12-12 17:59:17 |

Well that's not a major problem, it is just that some day the 20 GB of webspace will be full ![]() These 4:3 picture are quite big usually, so I usually try to keep height under 500 pixels (so I scale down 4:3 pictures that are wider than 640, as their height is above 500). |

how's the new photo? here's your original incase you want to put it back: ![]() antp, if you know of images that need to be resized, let me know....i ran out of DVDs to watch until after the holidays. |

To be perfectly honest with you ..I've no idea what you're talking about 4:3.?? ![]() Maybe an idea (to save space) to make All pics now being added to the site, smaller.? (640 x 480 ..instead of the 720.?)Another subject for forum discussion.? (you're more into this technical side of things ..how much space do we actually have.? and how long will it last us at our current rate of new movies being added.?) |

Antoine is that mark easy to reach? |

well, it is far: /memo/quota.cgi (utilisé = used, restant = remaining) next major problem is the database size (max = 50 MB, current = 44 MB) As I said, the space is not so much a problem. Since long time on the "upload picture" it is written that it is better to keep height below 500 pixels. Well, I could limit height to 500 like the width is limited to 720...) About "4:3", it is the shape of the picture : for 4 pixels wide you have 3 pixels height. As opposition to 16:9 which has a smaller height for the same width (widescreen). A little too small. 640x480 is a good size for 4:3 pictures I think, no need to reduce so much. For good picture like the one of this page (DVD quality) it is not very important actually (so I put the original picture back). If for you it is easier to do like current, you can continue ![]() But for pictures coming from VHS it is a little a "waste" of space since they are not sharp anyway, so reducing them do not erase any detail (sometimes it even make them look a little less "bad"). -- Last edit: 2006-12-12 20:14:31 |

Yes as he says isnt it possible to get more space? or do you have to pay more if you ask for more space? Anyway we are almost at the limit of database, how long will it take to reach the top? |

I would have to move the site to another hosting, but that next step is probably a dedicated server (rather than a server shared by several sites like currently), and I currently do not have time nor knowledge to manage such server. I guess that the database will reach its maximum size within few months. I could split it in two databases, but within less than 1 year another solution will have to be found anyway. So at that time I may already switch to another hosting where the space is still shared but where there is not that stupidly low database max size. -- Last edit: 2006-12-12 21:48:39 |
