1802cc is either the 1933 Morris Cowley side valve engine, or the 1950 to 1955 Nuffield Taxi/Hire Car overhead valve engine. Same DNA for either unit. -- Last edit: 2015-07-12 23:26:13 |

Never thought this one would be as complicated when I posted it ... Agreed Reliance for radiator badge, and maybe also width of front mudguards - the various online MT&Ts seem narrower. Neither make crops up as doubled rear wheelers online in the stuff I found, but not a problem. "RELIANCE TRUCKS - Circa 1935 Reliance Trucks formed as part of Redshaw Lister Woolen Machinery Co in Heckmondwike Yorkshire. Reliance built a variety of industrial vehicles of 3 and 4 wheeled configuration. In 1956 Reliance was bought by Marshalls (Halifax) Group; Marshalls were principally quarry owners and pre-cast concrete manufacturers who owned a subsidiary company called Halifax Tool Company, manufacturers of rock-drilling machinery and Reliance was purchased to gain extra fabrication facility. Reliance ran alongside Halifax Tool Company and in the late 1960s the trucks were badged as Halco-Reliance." plus album - http://www.autotruck.org/apps/photos/album.jsp?albumID=3840389 . Just a passing mention (in case we ever need to use it) that the late-30s MT&T tugs seem to be called Mertrak - http://www.gracesguide.co.uk/Mercury_Truck_and_Tractor_Co |

1940s Reliance 4-wheel models produced... H/2 4-wheel tractor 4-cyl 1,802cc HT2/B 4-wheel tractor 4-cyl 1,802cc FWB 4-wheel load carrier 4-cyl 1,802cc The Reliance models from the early 1930s were all 3 wheelers and 600cc or 750cc twins... Modeks H/SL, H/RL, H/SSL, H/SRL and H/TSL which continued through post war. Its likely from the movie that the HT2/B 4-wheel tractor was the heavy duty model (by the twin rears?) and introduced (after 1935 certainly) so about 1938. |
