:king: Never seen a Sept 63 S5 or Sept 65 S6 in US before, though quite a few earlier ones and Rootes did sell US Imps, Alpines and Tigers in mid 60s so did have a distribution network. So possibly genuine; next question is that black sill stripe - if original, suggests 66-67 fashion, so S6. And therefore probably sold as Sunbeam. Very interesting find.

I photographed a white one like this in Portland (Oregon) in the Summer of 1999. It was badged as a Sunbeam, indeed.

Thanks - useful confirmation. Always nice when guesswork gets evidence.

According to the Standard Catalogue of Imported Cars, Hillman was imported officially until 1966. For 1965-66, the models listed available are the Husky 2-dr wagon or the Super Minx sedan and wagon. On the Sunbeam pages, no Minx is listed, just the Rapier 4-door sedan, but only for 1964-67 (but the years are lumped together, so it may have been shorter). It states "The Rapier name was not used on the final examples in the U.S.". There were no pictures of the final sedans in the book.

Though McLellan's has several catalogues with the Minx Deluxe Sedan name for 1966-67, ID'd as US/Canada.

Interesting - there was no normal Rapier 4 door, so could be a US name for the Minx or maybe a rebadged something else like Humber Sceptre. Also did not realise Husky lasted so long in US - it finished production Dec 65 but 64 and 65 production was very low number - we only have 4 of these 63+ S3 versions.

Found something else interesting from e-bay, a salesman's brochure for 1965, it states that the previous year's 1600 Minx V sedan is now being marketed as the Sunbeam Deluxe sedan.

That's another strange one - the pictured Super Minx is a Series III (or Mark III would be acceptable) from Sept 64 onwards, But Super Minx convertible stopped production in June 64, so would be a very special order indeed.

Noted that 66my US Minx seems to be known as Deluxe - I don't want to change name yet until we have a code to link with other Minxes. There is the [Audax] code which could be applied to all 57-67 Minx/Gazelle/Rapier, but that would be a big task (though maybe worth doing longer term).
