As far as I understand, this is of Australian CKD assembly (Wacol, Queensland) and should be a F 86. http://www.oldaussievolvos.com/pdfs/Volvo%20fact%20feature%20July%201972.pdf and http://www.oldaussievolvos.com/background/history (about the assembly). http://hunteroldtrucks.com/volvo%20-%20f86%208x4%201978%20ad.jpg (1978 suggestion of usage). |

More information here http://www.oldaussievolvos.com/pdfs/20110912172641919.pdf . MY between 1975 (when the plastic grill was introduced) and 1979 when production ceased. Plenty of Australian manufacturers took part in building this truck, like chassis rails by Commonwealth egineering, Westinghouse breaks, Hendrickson suspension and Rockwell axles. The plant formerly used to belonged to Leyland, but was enlarged when Volvo bought it. The 8x4 configuration was specially made at the Australian plant. This is without doubt a 1975-79 Volvo F 86. Country of origin: Sweden, built in Australia. -- Last edit: 2014-08-14 09:15:59 |
