More likely to be a GMC than a Chevrolet if it has Dayton wheels. |

Platform based on a 1947-55 Chevrolet Advance-Design or GMC New Design. From brochures comparison, it appears that these rims seem to have been factory mounted from 1952 onwards on most of GMC 2½-ton 400 and 3-ton 450 / 470 models. They were also used on heavier models, but these ones have a different cab. Chevrolet truck line didn't propose such models: the "heaviest" was the 2-ton 6100 / 6400 / 6500, which may explain why these trucks didn't have such rims. 1952+ could indeed be the model year of this truck, due to the 1951+ vent window and what seems to be the strictly horizontal door handle, which is usually the clue of a 1952+ "push button" system. If I'm not mistaken, the windshield is a 2-piece model, which gives this truck a 1952 or 1953 model year. |
