What's a Buick/Opel ?? |

An Isuzu Gemini, based on the Opel Kadett C, sold in the US through Buick dealerships using the Buick/Opel name. |

Why is it written with a "/" though? |

Probably a way to ensure buyers that they weren't buying an American Buick Opel, but a German-Japanese-American joint venture going by the name of Buick/Opel. Or maybe they weren't sure whether to call it a Buick or an Opel and just decided to use both names. Isuzu was probably not preferred at the time as it would probably scare buyers off with a name to roll off their tongues. And Opel already had a reputation for making affordable and dependable cars. The Isuzu marque first entered the US market in 1981 with the I-Mark. They were referred to as "Buick Opels" by advertising, but the cars themselves had Buick/Opel written on them. |

Also, the reason why GM switched from German Opel to Isuzu it was due to rising value of Deutschemark at that time as well. |

Would it be better listing as make Buick, model Opel?? Does it actually deserve unique Buick/Opel make, which isolates it from normal sight?? |

I remember seeing this episode often. The driver attempts to go through a river that is flooding with a strong current. The deputy is rescuing another motorists and had to motion for this driver to turn around so he wouldnt become a victim as well. As a result, the car played a minor role in the episode, so I think it might qualify for 2 stars. |
