1988+ [AE95] "Corolla 4WD", not [E90]. All Corolla wagons of this generation in Australia were 4WD AE95s - there were no 2WD versions sold. The reason for this was that 4WD vehicles had lower import duty than non-4WD vehicles (this was the case from the 1980s up until 2010). It's the same reason why Toyota only offered the Tercel in 4WD in Australia. If Toyota Australia had imported a 2WD Corolla wagon, it would have been more expensive than the 4WD version, due to the higher duties, which would make it redundant. SR5 trim was only offered on pre-facelift 1988-1990 models. From 1991 onwards, it was replaced with "CSi" trim, which was more basic (eg no optional power windows or sunroof). There was also a base model "XL" offered. |
