Of what I understand, the Australian Volvos were made in Europe (and not in Canada). It most definately says GL on the rear boot lid, and I believe I can read 240 and not 245, which should make this a 1983+ Volvo 240 GL [245]. |

1988+ due to CHMSL. Also plate issued in 1988 as well. From a March 1988 Australian article: "For 1988, [240] will have a smaller steering wheel, high central brake light and a more powerful alternator to run its new electrical equipment which includes electric windows, central locking, rear fog lights and air-conditioning." "The 740 Volvo was always intended to replace the 240 but the demand for the 240 has increased so much that there is now a three-month waiting list for the station wagon." The 740 also gained the CHMSL in Australia in 1988 too. Regulations in Australia required CHMSL to be fitted no later than July 1, 1989, but a few car makers fitted them before this date. This is not an 1988+. It doesn't have any of the 1986+ face lift stuff. 1983-1985 as stated by zodiac. |
