This car is either a 740iL or a 750iL. Hard to tell by this blurred shot. Only was to tell by exterior is the wheels, exhaust, and badge - otherwise the 740iL and 750iL look identical. Brief minor use of vehicle. No aggressive driving or stunts. Not worth it for car use.

Rear view of car probably shows 740iL ....a bit blurred because of motion but the first two figures are '74' and definitely not '75' (90% sure).

...don't know if 3 stars is correct but I think it's use by a main character in three or more scenes plus slightly lengthly interior shots of conversations with the main characters is more than two stars.

This is the best shot I can get of the (moving) wheel - I don't know if this will confirm the 740iL designation.

Not easy I know! Sounds like you know your stuff too. But my guess is this...since the movie was released in 1993, and the 740i and 740iL were just introduced that year (or late `92, as a `93 model year), there's probably a better chance this is a `90-`94 750iL - I seem to remember confirming it when I first saw the movie. Plus that wheel sure looks like the older version BBS-syle the E34 535i and E32 750iL used. (The early `88-`89 750iL used a plain dish-looking wheel). This car is a `90-`94 E32 750iL.

By the way, thanks for all the details about BMWs that you post on the site ;)

You're welcome. BMW's have been my main hobby since I was five. I am extremely detail-oriented when it comes to these cars. Like detective work. Super site by the way!!!!

It's a 750iL (`90-`94).

Sunbar said that it was a 740iL badge on the rear :??:

Okay. Looks like I'll have to rent the movie out again, to be extra sure. In the meantime, if you insist on calling it a 740iL please change the year to 1993. The 740's never existed in the US until `93. Thanks.

Okay, I watched the scene 3 times over and over last night - and in slow motion. It is absolutely impossible to read the model/badge on the trunk. Could be a 740iL, or a 750iL. The wheels are very similar looking when they are moving - but I must say it looks more like a 750iL. Since the film came out in `93, this was the same year the 740's came out. The 750iL was out since `88. So, I'd say it's a `90-`91 750iL - it even sounds like one. I just remembered, the unclear badge, appeared to not be italic, so automatically it's not a 740. It's a `90-`91 750iL.

OK then lets go for a 750. Thanks for the research ;)

I had to watch this movie again, and the car is a '91 or a '92. Most '90s did not have that rearview mirror. The other thing that tips it are the interior door handles, which indicates it is not a '93 or '94. 750ils were still produced and sold in '93 and '94. They were not replaced, but the M60 powered E32s took the place of the 735is and outsold 750s.

Is there a shot of the back where you can see the endpipes? If they are square, then it's a 750iL cause the 750i(L) is the only BMW with square endpipes of the muffler.

I was the owner of this 1991 BMW 750iL when the movie was filmed for this scene in Chicago.

Seeing as this guy said he's the owner, why hasn't it been changed to 1991 already?

Lateef wrote Brand new 1993 due to the bumper

As far as I'm aware, the bumper never changed. At the rear, though, we can see that it has the non-italic badge font, which means it's pre-1993. It has 750iL wheels, and looks to be Island Green Metallic, which I believe was first offered for the 1990 model year. So even before the owner posted the comment above, we know it can only be a 1990-1992 750iL.
