Agree, "O" more used like bus chassis. But for the trucks, used the "L" letter.

Could not decide definitely onscreen if D/O or 308/309. O 309 my best guess. Over to people who know these things to decide ....

It was always O 309 or L 309. If there was a D, it was written at the end (for Diesel). I agree the O was used for bus versions, but since the first letter is obviously not an L it must be O indeed.
