Ha, you're right. I was fooled by the later grille. |

Grill introduced in Oct 1957 on the 1958 MY. @dsl: Are you sure about the year the plate was issued. And if so, can an older plate be used on a newer car? I pressume the issue date only tells the earliest possible date? -- Last edit: 2014-01-22 10:25:45 |

URT series fully issued May - August 56, East Suffolk. Glass's info gives first and end issue dates (and sometimes when a series crosses years, the last number issued at end of each year, although not relevant here for a series which was completed with 4 months of one year). Older plates could be used on a newer car as a cherished number transfer, although URT 600 does not seem particularly cherishable. Perhaps a replacement grille?? |

This makes it rather difficult to date cars, as one has go on what is possible to see. I'm not entirely sure if the older and newer grill can be switched, but I will find out as a friend of mine has a 56 Zephyr with the earlier grill (and flat rear) and my own 60' Zephyr has the newer one. But having that said, I feel rather peculiar when saing 'new' about something that happened more than 50 years ago... -- Last edit: 2014-01-22 22:03:45 |
