Ford Zephyr 4 Mk. 3.

There was never a Zephyr 4 Mk I or Mk II, they were called Consul. This, therefore, cannot be a Mk III.

Litterature says Mk.III for this Zephyr though!

Are these overriders an after-market option? The standard version don't have.

The Zephyr 6 went through three marks, but the 4 didn't.

Late 63 plate. Yes - over-riders were optional accessories. jfs is right in a strictly-speaking sense, but it is simplest to regard these as Zephyr Mk3, otherwise it would get too weird. While this could be a Z4 Mk1, the same body Z6 would be a Mk2, yet both are Mk3 Zephyrs; the Zephyr Mk2 did not have 4 and 6 variants. We'd also have to bugger about with the Mk4 Zephyrs. Too complicated for no real gain, and likely to cause confusion, as well as splitting Zephyr sequences from Zodiacs which goes against common usage/understanding.

I almost agree with dsl.
Concerning that about splitting two models, wouldn't it be better if marked e.g. "Zephyr or Zodiac" when in doubt until proven otherwise? What happen now is that people get confused and writes a model, which it might be, which as a consequence makes some models more common than it was in the reality.
A few examples are Wolseleys that is marked 6/99 when it also might be a 6/110, Mercedes 230 SL where it also might be a 250 SL, 250 S where it also might be a 250 SE, a 300 SE or even 280 S or SE. Volvo F 10 where it also might be a F 12. I can go on...

^ Those examples are imcdb custom and practice - if uncertain, enter as earliest/lowest version. Works pretty well, apart from occasional judgements needed where earliest/lowest is much rarer than a later/higher version - there are a few cases, but I can't think of one off the top of my (bald) head.

Probably as long as 211E is included there's no problem. If Ford had called it the Consul Mk III there would have been less trouble. They then went to Mk IV with a Zephyr 4, and followed up with a new Consul, which was a sort of cut-price Granada.
