It's a joke that makes fun of those people that forget. I've done it once, but that was because the car I was driving didn't have a very loud clicker or a bright turn signal light (it was an Olds Delta 88).

How are you supposed to do in USA when passing a car?
I think that in France you have to keep the left blinker on until you finish to pass the car, but here in Belgium you have to put the right blinker when before coming back on the lane after you passed the car (I should check that, I am not sure anymore :D)

Yes we have the same rule in the UK ,but (of course) the other way around.! Right indicator to overtake & left to pull back in front (..but not many people do this.! :) )
The same for roundabouts, drivers are 'Supposed' to indicate in & out of them (I'd been re-taught this when doing my PCV training/test for the Bus) ..I've continued to do this now just driving my car, but very rarely see anyone else doing it ,Even the Police are guilty.! :D

Yes but in the UK you use the right one cause you drive on the other hand... in spain we have to use the left one to overtake and then when going back to your line the right one... i thought it was the same everywhere except in the right-hand-drive countries :/

Well people think that the self-cancel will turn it off. It doesn't work when changing lanes.
