Plate is HYM 488 (London April 47 - May 49 "allocated in blocks") or HYW 488 (London April-July 47). Signwriting is Clarkes "Luxury", xx (something) Road, Canning Town, Telephone xxxxxxxxxxxx

could this be Bedford OB Duple Vista Coach ?

but wait a minute the sliding door is further forward, the rest looks like Duple Vista body, with alloy "flash" trim.

Its a half cab so not Bedford .
Got to be one of the 'quality' makes .
Wheels look AEC or Leyland

In Staffs, we do things differently..............

Bus looks to be Leyland Tiger/Duple, but not very good view of radiator to distinguish shape from AEC, or TSM, or Albion.

Clarkes, Canning Town, E16 had AEC (Regal?) and Bedford SB coaches registered new in the mid-1950s so possibly an earlier AEC here also.

I wouldn't argue concerning the make, could easily be an AEC, and it would likely be a Regal. Clarke's appear to have owned a Regal/Windover, but this coach matches the Duple body almost exactly.

Some slight glimpses of the front captured from the original 1948 source (but not shown in the 2013 video) here which might help confirm make??

I've just had a look at "Buses on Screen", and it's an AEC Regal. Problem solved!
