I think that is the full name, Prince Skyway, nothing in the middle. |

Interesting picture....The Prince Skyway never had the round tail lights like this at bottom of fin, they all had triangle shaped tails as part of the fin. They didn't have bumper overriders either as the Skyway had a two part tailgate, top glass half flipped up, bottom hinged part folded down. I believe that its actually a Skyline converted to a wagon. Don't think its a factory conversion. Skyways had different shaped rear doors also, weren't interchangeable with the sedan. Pic of a 1963 Skyway on trailer, being towed by a 1962 Skyline Deluxe. Skyline has same body stripe as car in main pic. -- Last edit: 2021-01-22 21:38:40 |

I have found out a bit of information regarding this odd Prince. They were coach built station wagons based on the Skyline sedan, which were distributed by Prince Motors, but not entirely known if they were manufactured by Prince or an outside agency on their behalf. In Japan the Skyway wagon was considered a commercial vehicle, and as such were speed limited along with other restrictions, unlike the Skyline sedans and these Skyline coach built wagons, which is possibly part of the reason they were made rather than upgrading a Skyway wagon. They are still considered a Skyline, and in this case a Skyline Deluxe. Picture below is of a lower spec standard Skyline coach built station wagon, which also show the Skyline badge on door. -- Last edit: 2021-01-22 21:50:04 |
