They blew it up? I don't remember, all I remember about the Newport is it was pushed up against a tree by that rig. But its a Chrysler, who cares (I know I'm gonna get hell for this one), if it doesn't wear the Blue Oval it doesn't mean anything to me.

Off topic: Has anyone noticed the large amount of new members within this last week? There has been like 4 or 5 already.

Hollywood is smashing too many old greats (this..not so much, but it has style) i wish they would use newer stuff more...

Oh and about the new members, i rekon thats the new wikipedia article, and people making a typo when typing imdb in.
I only found this place by luck, when searching for a pic of the SM from the Junkman on google :D

I 100% agree!!! They should use 2000+ cars instead of great, perfect, amazing, larger-then-life cars like Ford Tempos!

Ya, I found IMCDb when I think (not certain though as I don't remember very well) when searching for trucks on Google for Maximum Overdrive.

I think that car and the truck deserve five stars? :)

I do not agree, these have a high importance in the movie and are seen a lot (explaining the 4 stars), but the movie is about the characters rather than the cars, and they are not famous enough to be seen as being "part of the movie".

i'm sick of seeing hollywood ruin perfectly good cars too. but can't agree about the "not so much this one" part. i love the old land yachts!

Right! Because why not destroy a clean, fine-running example of one of the best looking American luxury cars ever built?

This car owns you.

"shut up rhino" it should literally be against the law to do this to a classic. there should be a law against destroying vintage autos for some stupid movie. or at the very least people who willingly destroy these cars for movies should have there teeth knocked out and be beaten within an inch of there lives. . . . . . . . . but thats just my opinion I could be wrong. (however I think alot of people on this site would agree with me.) :)

Also appeared in "Pink Cadillac" and "The Wizard".

imdb goofs:
When they first get the CB radio, the antenna switches from the left to the right side of the Newport and back again (the film is flipped). When the antenna is seen on the right side, the rear bumper of the car appears smooth with the prominent dents missing.

I don't know where the Dealership he visitis at the first is, but man... I've gotta find out! :p

This car is a fantastic example of Chrysler's "Fueselage" styling. A two door hardtop in those colors? Wow. Those smooth round flanks are sensational... this car looks positively massive, and beautiful.

The car makes the movie worth watching.

yes, you probably will go to hell for that one. the majority of my vehicles are fords but i wouldn't kick my pickup out of the garage for being a chevy. I ain't prejudice as long as it ain't foreign. (lousy rice grinders)
