1973+ with "elephant foot" rear light. Bumper where much bigger on US Beetle from 1974. |

On reprécise: "Beetle" n'est pas une appellation commerciale. A renommer. Et je repose ma question: 1303 ou 1302? -- Last edit: 2006-11-08 09:52:47 |

For model year, we employ the first model year. First model year is 1973. And 74,75...are different (bigger bumper because of 74+ new rules) Regarding the model, it is a 1303 (elephant foot appeared on 1303 and 1200, but no lower grilles on 1200) |

There´s something odd about the engine lid on this one, the air-slits seems to be homemade. I´ve never seen anything like that before. Compare this one: /vehicle_28017-Volkswagen-1303-Typ-1-1974.html That´s the normal lid from 1972 model 1302 and up (1971 model cars have less slits), and there´s also the larger 1974 model bumper that is mounted higher than on the 1973 models. From 1975 models and up the front turn signals are mounted in the front bumper. So what exactly this car is, I´m not sure, we can´t see the front window to be sure it´s a 1303 but I´d guess it is. The engine lid is odd and the bumper looks to be pre -74. It might have been modified many times over the last 30 years, so I put it to 1973 1303. I think it´s most likely what it once was. |
