Remember the bit where Brad is doing a fast food delivery and a woman in a sports car pulls up beside him at the lights? He winks at her, and she just laughs at him then he realizes he's wearing a really goofy pirate hat and he quits the job right there and tosses the hat and the food out the window. Where's the car that the girl drove?

she's in a black corvette...i tried to see if there was anyway to capture it but there's not much that you see except for her and the top part of the car.

Well as long as we know what is. I know you don't see much of the car, could you take captures anyway?

Does anyone else find this car pretty odd-looking? Brad seems to like it though.

It's typical late '50s/early '60s quirky GM styling. I find it rather attractive overall. If I had one in this condition, I'd probably be about as proud of it as he is.

To me it just seems a bit too fish-like. It flares up at the sides like a manta ray (maybe that was the idea, the Chevy Corvette C3 was meant to look like a shark). It wouldn't call it ugly, but I'm not sure if I could live with those looks.

I like it (I like the '59 better though). The early '60s Chrysler Corp cars were ugly.

'59s were nice...that was a great year for styling on all Detroit cars (except maybe Lincoln...blargh!). Even the Edsel looked decent in 1959.

As for Chrysler Corp., their styling fell by the wayside a bit in 1960 when compared to the very pretty 1959 models (1958 was probably their pinnacle year, though), but by 1963 they had recovered nicely.

59 was a great year for every make, even the Nash Metropolitan. Oldmobile expressed its Linear Look, Chrysler was at the height of The Forward Look, Chevrolet had its attractive Gullwing and slightly subdued 1960 design. In an age where body styles were used for 3 or 4 years, the 59-60 styles of the GM makes are major separation from the previous styles. Collectible Automobile magazine reported that the reason for this was Harley Earl the VP of Styling for GM was out of the office a short time when some designers caught sight of th 57 Plymouths being offloaded to a Chrylser facility in Fall of 1956. The Forward Look made the GM cars look like they were out of the previous decade. Plymouths's slogan that year was "Suddenly it's 1960." A brand-new 1957 Plymouth Belvidere will be unearthed as a time capsule in Tulsa, OK June 15, 2007, as part of OK's centennial celebration. See www.buriedcar.com for details. The car will be awarded to the person or descendant of whoever guesed the correct population of Tulsa in 2007 from 1957. See you there! (I wish)

The name for the styling of 59-60 Buicks was the Delta Wing. Tail fins were actually advertised in those days as a safety feature. The theory was that the downward force on the rear of the car would improve stability, nevermind the car would need to be going above 150 MPH to have any effect! Tail fins were actually a danger due to poor visibility, and the *chance* that some kid would poke his eye out ;) Ouch!

Classic movie, just watched this on TV last night. Brad: "...hope you had a hell of a piss Arnold". CLASSIC!!!

I love Buicks, have a 2009 Enclave....but this 1960 is a bit homely...but still a bit cool at the same time.

This exact car turns up on American Restoration. The current owner wanted it restored to how it looked in the movie, but Rick had to turn him down because of all the labour required and the fact he wouldn't be able to do any other projects for nearly a year.

thanks for posting lots of pics of this very fine car. nice shape LeSabre for 1982! i like the canted headlights of the '59, but it ends there for me-- overall the 1960 is much prettier in my opinion, especially when two toned..

Just saw this on American Restoration, or at least, the owner thought it was this car. it had been repainted brown and he was looking to get it returned back to it's movie color. "Vacuum Daze" Season 4 Episode 1

If the car had been repainted brown, I wonder if it was the same one used in the third "Naked Gun" movie? It was brown with blue interior, which makes me think it was probably originally a blue car.
