How do you know it is a 14? It could be a 16RS or a 19D too...

Little window on 16 TRS only, 16 RS didn't have one, like 14 E and RE. According to wheel cover, I believe it is a 16 RS

If the window surroundings are black, it is most likely a 16RS or 14RE, but I am not sure if that is the case with this photo. If they are not black, it is most likely a 19D (this was also without the window in the c style). Also it has a long hood, some BX'es had an extra grille under the lowest part of the hood, just above the bumper. But I did have to check which types it had for this year...

No wheel cover on 14, just a black cap to cover the nuts, large wheel cover on all 16. My knowledge stop with petrol version :D

The 14E and RE had the same covers as the 16RS, the version you mean is the 14 "Basic".

My father had a 14RE, bought new in April 1983 with no wheel cover (just the black cap à la BX or BX 14E). There is a picture in the "Salon de l'Auto" 1984 page 51 with a 14RE and no wheel cover. One clue on the car pictured, is that there is a second door mirror, not available on all version

I did not know the 14RE came with the basic wheel cover. Perhaps it was in 1983 only? Later versions had I believe the same wheel covers as all the other types. I had a BX14E from 1988, which had them also. The second rearview mirror indeed indicates it is not a bx14, as that version did not have it. It was an option on a 14E, so that could be it. But then again, this has black window surroundings and I believe that was only on the 14RE and 16RS. So I agree with you this is most likely a BX16RS :)

You probably right. First BX came with 4 wheels and a steering wheel :D They probably changed quickly the equipment...Anyway, definitly a Citroën when it came out...I remember the 1983 only Yellow or Green BX...Only one green was sold in Bordeaux area (a 16 if my memory is good) and 2 or 3 yellow 14!!!

It sure was a nice Citroën, especially the type 1. My father had a 1985 19D
It is funny you mention those colours, that green was very rare, I have seen only one in my life...a great car...
