You can't rely on the sound, it is too often dubbed by something else...

I live in Arizona, and believe me, I don't think I have ever seen a license plate matching that number, any further information to pull up about it?

Norma Bates' car in the series. I am not a Mercedes Benz expert...but if this is a 280 SEL, I think it'd have to at least be a 1968 model...don't think they made them in 1966. Also, is that color Reseda Green?

If you can trust wiki on this one you have a 1972 based on the 4.5 engine.

In some of the episodes, this car sounds almost like it has a diesel engine. I'm guessing they did overdub it, since the W108 was never available with a diesel engine.

This car has a column-shift automatic, and in some of the interior shots it appears to have an aftermarket stereo CD player. Also, Arizona only requires one (rear) plate.

I completely agree with Thepattoncar. I'm an european & used to diesel engines ( & Mercedes). This car never had a diesel engine ( it's not a taxi) but an extremely elaborated v8. From where this sound comes? Overdubbing? transformation? I know that it was usual in Texas to turn citroen CX Turbo's gearbox into an automatic ZF box. So, why not? But, to turn a nice w108 v8 into a common diesel smells... i try to keep cool.. ANyway, I vote for overdubbing ( sound engineer is fired) ' cause the exhaust does not release black smoke. Try that if interested https://youtu.be/5C321bPC_Ro
