I think the Seat Altea should be listed as MPV. Two are listed as MPV, all the others as hatchbacks. But it´s a competitor of the Ford C-Max, Hyundai Matrix, etc. so it´s a compact MPV. The hatchback is the Leon in this case. |

Even if it is competitor to the other compact MPV, doesn't it look even less MPV than the others which already aren't that much MPV? What makes it more MPV than just hatchback? Despite the fact that Wikipedia lists it that way. If this one is changed to MPV, the Toledo of the same generation should also be changed to MPV then? |

Here in Germany they are known as compact MPV. They provide a higher driving position, better visability, a better variability and also more space. That also applies to the Altea. If you want to list the Altea, C-Max, etc. as hatchbacks, then you also have to change cars like Opel Meriva, Citroen C3 Picasso,... They are even shorter than the Altea and provide less space. |

Really? I know them as high taller hatchbacks for old people. The classes on IMCDB are not very clear anyway. A Dacia Logan is the same class as for example a Mercedes S-Class. For buses there should be a category Minibus and Coach as well |

Huh, this afternoon at the gas station there was a Seat Ibiza before me. Normally Seat is meant to be a brand for young and sporty people - but the old daddy needed at least 10 minutes from the cashier to the car, to put the purse away, to take the seatbelt, to start the car ... The most impressive item of this slow-motion-grandpa was his peruke ![]() ![]() |

But that would be the same with the Opel Meriva or? |

Yeah, why are the Meriva and C3 Picasso listed as Vans? |

Well actually they are small MPV´s. As I said they have more space, a better variability and high driving position. All things which a big MPV like a Galaxy or a Sharan also has... Just smaller. -- Last edit: 2013-09-06 22:17:22 |

... and what? Both are four-door sedan. It is not a price class ![]() About the compact MPV, maybe it would be better to extend the hatchback class to also include compact MPVs ? And keep the other class for vans and large MPVs only? What do you think? |

Well, more classes like small MPV, compackt MPV, large MPV and transporter would be to complex I think. So your suggestion seems to be the best, I would say. |

Or what about that? All MPV´s which are available as 6(upwards)-seaters are listed as MPV´s. MPV´s only available with 5 seats as hatchbacks. |

Doesn't that excludes cars like the non-Grand versions of Scénic or C4? |
◊ 2013-09-12 17:16 |
But actually the non-Grand versions of Scénic and C4 are nearly the same size as the Altea. So if the Altea, Golf Plus, C-Max are listed as hatchbacks, the Scénic and C4 Picasso should be listed as hatchbacks, too. |
