In this case (of a "French seeming American"), the dialogues would introduce something more. It's in this film and about this car that those lines are said: the cop — "Quelle voiture ?" the hooker — "USA. Avec un capot comac et un spider ad hoc." It wouldnt be the first time in a French film that a character takes a French car for a fancy foreign one.
