Hey, if anyone can give me some more info on the GMC Astro/Chevy Titan, I'd be very grateful. By info, I mean: length/width/whatever, weight, engine specs, history, etc... All I know is that they were introduced in 1968, replacing the GMC F-Model "Crackerbox"/whatever Chevy's version was, & had an all-aluminum tilt-cab, a 10-speed tranny, & possibly an 8V71 Detroit Diesel. Also, I know that they were redesigned in 1980 & production ended in 1988. But that's just about all I know. If anyone has more info, please help!

In 1980 I think, The Astro received a bigger grille that looked similar to the one on the General, And in '83 the Astro received a more aerodynamic grille with the red "GMC" lettering in the center as well as dual rectangular headlights (single, not quad) on either side, A new option for the Astro in '83 was a roof mounted dragfoiler to improve the flow of air over the cab.

It started in 1968
this could be '68 to late '70's when side turn signals became square and mounted higher

Also pretty much ANY engine tranny combo produced was available. It could even be purchased as a glider with no motor or trans
