I considered deleting this before I thought what it was. -- Last edit: 2013-06-26 22:05:35 |

Nice. K70 LS for the tail panel, and 1973-74 as there are no C-pillar vents if I'm not mistaken. |

Ingo should be glad to see this K70 of Hong Kong ...... |

Didn't even know they sold these in HK. |

Ingo will probably know how many were imported there. |

To Hongkong were total 331 K 70 exported - as to see here, even the LS-Sondermodell. This is one of the 5000 made (only from May to July 1973) K 70 LS special edition (1.8 liter 100 hp-engine, black stripes on the side, black back panel, black interior, either marathonmetallic or sonnengelb) Unusal for Volkswagen: this special edition was introduced with the new 100hp-engine. Later on, until today, VW usually pushes special editions of models on the market, whose productions shall be end soon. So to get rid of the previous cars. YMMD! |

P.S. No K 70 are left over in HK, as some years ago the VW Owners Club Hong Kong has confirmed to me Maybe some HK-cars have survived somewhere else, as the 1973 K 70, which landed in the early 80ies in New Zealand. |

No K70 are left in HK, because HK has very few K70 sold..... In general it's very difficult to search K70 from Hong Kong movies, because K70 is rare in HK. In 1970s (the golden era of VW in HK), most of the VW vehicles were VW Beetles & VW vans. And some VW 1600 were found. Other models of VW were not popular, including K70. Therefore, when finding K70, you have to see a lot of T1 and T2 first ....... |

@boys bible: For the very low export-rates of the K 70, HK belonged to the bigger import-countries with 355 cars (sorry 331 is wrong, as I see now) I just have checked the VW-export-lists, which I own. The numbers for Hongkong were: - 1971: Typ1: 1054 (plus 69 re-exported CKD-kits from Belgium); Typ2: 228; Typ3: 40 1600, 55 1600 Variant; Typ4: 54 411, 1 411 Variant; K 70: 38 - 1972: Typ1: 430; Typ2: 167; Typ3: 12 1600, 33 1600 Variant; Typ4: 9 411, 1 411 Variant; K 70: 143 - 1973: Typ1: 517; Typ2: 218; Typ3: 0 1600, 51 1600 Variant; Typ4: 5 411, 1 411 Variant; K 70: 149; Passat: 147 - 1974: Typ1: 5 (plus 2 re-exported CKD-kits from Belgium); Golf: 2; Typ2: 91; Passat: 28, Passat Variant: 1; K 70: 25 - 1975: Typ1: 16; Golf: 136; Typ2: 95; Passat: 27, Passat Variant: 4; K 70: 0 |

P.S. Since July 1964, there were two cars re-exported from Australia to HK, one Typ2 and one Typ3. |

I cannot confirm the number. But for me, I've never seen K70 before. It's not in a mainstream of Hong Kong market. In 1970s most of the VW were T1 and T2, and VW Golf since 1980s. |
