not sure of the official name for a Mini |

Austin mini? |

'Y'-registration means 1982/83, which was the year when the so called E-Type Minis were introduced: This one is a Mini HLE. 'Mini' was used as a brand name since 1969. |

Yes, the question of using Mini was discussed a couple of months ago, even if Mini was the brand name (before the arrival of Rover...), it was decided to keep Austin Mini... |

It is not up to us to change the history of brand names. The brand for this car is 'Mini', nothing else. The 'Mini' brand was used from 1969 until 1994, when it became the Rover Mini. http://www.dataphone.se/~fixer/info.htm |

You are rude Alexander, saying "nothing else". I think it is a democratic space here (or I leave it quickly... ) I worked a couple of year for a Mini shop, and even if I am not expert, I know these little leaking machine...In reality, BLMC, then British Leyland called it Mini Austin even when it was Mini only. We cannot say that British Leyland was wrong. Things can be change easily on Imcdb, but I you want to change ALL the comments on Mini, you should ask Antoine...and need some hours (and days) in front of you...And if it is the case, we should make some change on the database, because some of them won't be happy to see Mini mixed with MINI |

Well, the fact that old and new Mini are mixed is not a so big problem, actually in all makes old and new cars are mixed. The only thing that we should maybe really do is to add the ADO code of all these old Mini. I do not know what name is the most correct, so I won't decide anything for that one. |

I have to support the mix of a genuine Icon with an underBMW Neon powered... I agree on ADO code |
◊ 2006-10-17 22:50 |
ADO 15: BMC MK1&2 except Cooper MK1,2&3 AD0 50. Clubman and MK3 are ADO 20. Don't forget Australian YDO. Don't know what to do for MK 4, 5 ,6... |

I didn't intend to be rude, you got me wrong. With 'nothing else' I mean no additional brand name like Austin, Morris or Rover next to 'Mini'. The Mini had the ADO20 code from 1969 until the final car in 2000, i.e. for 'Mini' and 'Rover' branded versions. Before, 1959-69, it was ADO15, for 'Austin', 'Morris', 'Riley' and 'Wolseley'. The Cooper versions had the code ADO50 (1961-71). That Mini and MINI are mixed is (more or less) acceptable, as it is the same brand. BMW bought the rights to use this brand name. -- Last edit: 2006-10-17 22:56:14 |

So even with their ADO-codes they couldn't make something easy? |

... and the prototype had the code XC9003! /vehicle_55903-Austin-Se7en-XC9003-1958.html |

1983 Mini Mayfair, not HLE. See 'Mayfair' decal by right of number plate and on rear right shoulder coachline. Similar to HLE spec. |
