1990 base model.. that year was the only year(and model) to get the ugly chrome grille |

I never found the chrome grill to be ugly. This was my favorite variation of the Lumina, a really nice car. My Grandparents had one and we took quite a few road trips in it. -- Last edit: 2017-02-05 14:41:18 |

The 1990 Lumina was the successor to the Chevy Celebrity (which is also featured in this film). Essentially a modern-day (at the time) Impala, the Lumina was part of the GM W-Body. In a way, it was a direct competitor to the Ford Taurus, being a bit more "futuristic" in design that its predecessors. My Grandparents had a 1990 model just like this one and I remember it well. It was a very nice, but quirky vehicle. RegularCarReviews did a great review on a 1990 model and you can see what I mean by some of the quirks that are gone over in the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8RODLugezas. One interesting feature I recall of this car was that the front turn signals would light up underneath the grill. Also, the dash had a rather sophisticated "system diagnostics center" similar to the Pontiac 6000. |
